8:30PM, CO-ED, OPTIONAL, BIBLE STUDY, FILM, POTLUCK, JOY IN THE GIFT OF LIFE

Life, in all its beauty and complexity, is a reflection of God’s creative hand and His desire for us to experience joy. Scripture is filled with reminders to savor the moments, give thanks in all circumstances, and delight in God’s blessings. Yet, this joy doesn’t come without intentionality—it requires a heart attuned to God’s Word and a deeper understanding of His purpose for our lives. Together, we’ll explore passages where Scripture invites us to slow down, revel in God’s goodness, and find true joy.

Scriptures for Reflection

  1. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
"I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God."
Life’s joys and pleasures, like food, work, and relationships, are a gift from God. The Teacher in Ecclesiastes reminds us that these moments of happiness and fulfillment stem from God’s desire for His people to enjoy what He has provided.

  2. Philippians 4:4
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
Paul writes this bold command while imprisoned, teaching us that the source of rejoicing is not in circumstances but in the Lord. Joy becomes an act of trust and worship, rooted in the constancy of God’s character.

  3. Psalm 16:11
"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."
David speaks here of joy found in the presence of God—something eternal and unshakable. This passage reminds us that true satisfaction comes not from fleeting pleasures but from walking closely with the Lord.

  4. 1 Timothy 6:17
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment."
Even our material blessings, however temporary, are meant to point us back to the ultimate Giver. God invites us to trust Him fully and recognize His provision as intentional joy for His children.

  5. John 10:10
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Jesus reminds us that abundant life is His gift to us. This fullness isn’t about possessions or worldly success—it’s about a joyful, restored relationship with Him that overflows into every part of our lives.

Post-Study Fellowship Plan

After we wrap up our Bible study, we’ll gather for a potluck to share food, laughter, and fellowship. If you’d like to contribute, here are a few ideas to make it easy and fun for everyone:

  • Homemade Potluck Ideas: Pasta salads, baked casseroles, finger foods like sliders, fruit trays, or desserts like cookies or brownies.

  • Takeout Options: If you're short on time, feel free to bring pizzas, sub sandwiches, wings, or even a variety of Chinese takeout dishes to mix things up.

We’ll follow dinner by settling in for a group viewing of the original Space Jam! Bring your cozy blankets, grab your snacks, and get ready for a night of good vibes and nostalgic fun.

Before we dig in and press play, here are some group questions to tie our evening together:

  1. How can we carry the joy and fellowship we’ve experienced tonight into our personal walks with God this week?

  2. Space Jam is all about teamwork—how can we better support and encourage each other in this group, just as the characters in the film support each other?

  3. What small blessings have brought you joy recently, even in unexpected circumstances?

We’re looking forward to a night of meaningful connection, great food, and plenty of laughs. See you there!
