REVITALIZE THROUGH STILLNESS

Captured by Mitchell Royel in the vibrant heart of Downtown Los Angeles, I found myself reflecting on the beauty of shared energy during moments like these. The afternoon heat felt reminiscent of a hot yoga session, where intensity meets deep release, and I couldn’t help but draw parallels to the strength and vulnerability it takes to pursue one’s dreams. As "Lottery" by Latto & LU KALA played in the background, its rhythm felt like a soundtrack to ambition, a reminder that the universe moves with us when we align passion and purpose. Moments like this remind me why balance, both on and off the mat, is so essential.

With eyes gently closed and the body at ease, we began by tuning into the sacred rhythm of the breath. "Allow your inhale to carry the wisdom of the universe," I guided, "and with each exhale, release what no longer serves your inner harmony." These words, reverberating with ancient Brahmin ethos—a call to align oneself with purity of thought, word, and action.

"Picture a shimmering light at the base of your spine," I continued, "a golden thread stretching upward—a connection to the divine. On each breath, visualize this luminous energy rising through your chakras, illuminating your spirit with clarity and purpose." Together, we explored this sacred energy, honoring the truths passed down through generations. Each participant’s presence deepened, anchoring them in both individual transformation and collective consciousness. It was a moment of both profound stillness and divine alignment.

This past week in Downtown Los Angeles, I had the honor of hosting our third annual REVITALIZE event—a program I started back in 2015. While I won’t go into all the details here, this year marked a special milestone for me as I led the meditation portion of the workshop for the first time.

The meditation was divided into three sections—20 minutes of movement, 20 minutes of mindfulness, and 20 minutes of meditation. For the meditation design, I considered creating a balance between grounding and ease, knowing participants were transitioning from an intense hot vinyasa session. The yoga flow was physically demanding, with heat amplifying both the challenge and the release, so I structured the meditation to provide spaciousness for restoration and reflection.

It was important to meet the group where they were, embodying stillness while acknowledging the tender balance of effort and surrender they had just experienced. Each breath was an invitation to return to the body, soften the mind, and anchor into the present moment—a truly humbling and rewarding experience to guide.
