EMBRACING OUR FULL STORY

The following moment was beautifully captured in the heart of the fashion district by Mitchell Royel, serving as a vibrant snapshot of creativity and culture. It is important to note that this scene holds no direct affiliation with the city of Calabasas or any related events, races, or entities, whether local or national. As the backdrop of this moment unfolded, the beats of "All Night Long" by Demi Lovato, Timbaland, and Missy Elliott resonated in the air, adding a layer of rhythm and energy to the atmosphere.

After going through rehab, I felt like I had been given this incredible chance to hit the reset button on my life. But honestly, even with that clarity, I still felt lost—like, who was I outside of this bubble I had created for myself? I knew I needed something that could help me reconnect with the person I wanted to be. That’s when I heard about E!'s Revenge Body. The show was all about transformation and getting back to the core of who you are. It felt like it aligned perfectly with the energy I was trying to bring into my life, so I decided to audition. But here’s the thing—I told the producers this whole polished story about wanting to take that next step forward, which was true, but it wasn’t the whole truth.

The real story, the one I kept in my heart, started way earlier. Growing up, I used to stay up late watching The Simple Life. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie just captivated me. They had this energy—this confidence mixed with this completely unbothered vibe that I couldn’t look away from. It wasn’t just their style or their humor; it was the way Paris came back stronger after facing challenges. She didn’t hide; she owned her narrative. Even when the world tried to define her, she redefined herself. I remember one specific episode where Paris got her hands dirty on this random farm, and she had this way of laughing at herself while also radiating this confidence that seemed effortless. It hit me, even as a kid, that self-worth comes from within, not what other people think of you.

Those thoughts stayed with me during my rehab process. I kept thinking back to Paris—how she bounced back, rebranded herself, and just kept going. It made me believe I could do the same. When I walked into that audition room for Revenge Body, that inspiration still echoed inside me. Paris didn’t shrink herself for anyone, and I told myself I wouldn’t either. I didn’t share my Paris Hilton story with the producers—not because I was ashamed, but because I felt like it was a personal motivation just for me. Instead, I told them about wanting to rebuild and inspire others. That wasn’t untrue, but if I’m being honest, I was also thinking about the way Paris inspired me to see myself through all new eyes.

Even now, when I think about that time in my life, Paris still feels like this symbol for me—a reminder of how powerful reinvention can be. Making that decision to audition for the show wasn’t just about weight or fitness; it was about telling myself I could wear every chapter of my life, even the messy parts, and still move forward. And I think that’s something Paris would totally approve of.

But deeper still, as I reflect on my own faith and my walk as a man of Christ, I realize how much we as men can learn from the strength and resilience we see in women. Women like Paris, whose stories of transformation teach us to stand in the fullness of our own truth, inspire us to rise in ways that are not just surface-level but deeply substantial. Just as Paris redefined herself and embraced every part of her story, we too can look to the women in our lives—mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters—for lessons in grace, courage, and unwavering faith. Their strength challenges us as men of Christ to celebrate vulnerability and resilience, not as weaknesses but as vital parts of our spiritual growth and our calling to lead with humility, love, and renewed purpose.
