Jayden James is beginning to carve out a creative identity of his own, with recent opportunities spanning fashion, beauty and music.
The 19-year-old, who is the younger son of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, has been featured as a cover star for MAC Cosmetics’ relaunched digital publication, MACzine. The campaign adds another notable credit to his growing profile and follows his recent introduction to the fashion world.
James made his runway debut during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, appearing alongside his older brother, Sean Preston, in a Vetements presentation. The appearance marked a significant step for both brothers as they began exploring careers in fashion independently of their parents’ entertainment careers.
His new partnership with MAC Cosmetics further expands that path. The campaign features James in a series of images connected to the brand’s beauty products, while the accompanying profile highlights his interests and creative ambitions.
According to MAC Global Creative Director Nicola Formichetti, James brings a distinctive presence to the project. Formichetti also noted James’ musical abilities, particularly his skills as a pianist, suggesting that his interests extend beyond modeling and fashion.
Music remains an important part of James’ plans. He has previously indicated that he and his brother have been working on music and that he hopes to release his own material when the time is right. There is currently no announced release date or formal debut project.
That uncertainty appears intentional. Rather than rushing into a highly publicized music career, James seems to be taking time to explore different creative outlets and determine where he wants to focus professionally.
His recent appearances have nonetheless increased public interest. Along with the MAC campaign, James has attended events connected to the cosmetics company, giving him additional exposure within the fashion and beauty industries.
While his family name inevitably attracts attention, his recent projects suggest that James is attempting to develop a professional identity based on his own interests. Whether that ultimately leads to a career primarily in music, fashion, or a combination of the two remains to be seen.
For now, the MAC Cosmetics campaign represents another step in James’ gradual transition from being known primarily as Britney Spears’ son to establishing himself as an emerging creative figure in his own right.
