Letter to Kids from Mason about Mitchell
Hello Friends at Shepherd’s Daycare!
My name is Mason and I want to tell you about our special friend Mitchell! Mitchell is 2 years old and he gets to do something super cool - he spends time in both the big kids room and the toddler room!
In the morning, Mitchell starts in the toddler room where he has breakfast with his toddler friends. He loves playing with blocks and knocking down towers! He also likes the sensory table where he can pour sand and water. His teachers help him practice using a spoon without spilling too much.
After morning circle time, Mitchell sometimes comes to visit us in the big kids room! We are very careful with Mitchell because he is still learning to walk really well. When Mitchell visits us, we play games that are safe for toddlers. We roll soft balls back and forth, and Mitchell laughs when the ball rolls away! We also play peekaboo, which is Mitchell’s favorite game.
Mitchell likes when we read books to him and show him the pictures. He is learning new words every day! Sometimes he says “ball” or “book” or “bye-bye” and we clap for him.
After lunch, Mitchell goes back to the toddler room for his nap. Toddlers need lots of sleep to grow big and strong! He sleeps on his special nap mat with trucks on it.
Remember when Mitchell comes to our room:
Use walking feet around him
Share toys nicely
Use gentle hands
Talk in a friendly voice
Help him learn new things
Mitchell is learning from all of us big kids, and we can learn things from him too! Maybe you can help Mitchell during his next visit. What games do you think Mitchell would like to play?
Your friend,
Mason
