Treehouse: Does God Love Serial Killers?
Hey,
I wanted to take a moment to think about our recent chats, your messages, requests, dinners, and phone calls. I really appreciate the time we’ve spent together and the talks we’ve had. It’s been nice getting to know you better.
That said, I need to share my thoughts on a question that has weighed heavily on my heart. As a firefighter, I often find myself in conversations that challenge my beliefs and understanding of humanity. Recently, a little boy asked me a profound question: “Does God love serial killers?”
My answer was simple yet complex: yes, He does. This answer may seem shocking at first, but it reflects a deeper truth about the nature of God and His love for all of us. God gives everyone a chance to discover Him, regardless of their past actions. No one is beneath repentance, and no one is beyond the reach of His grace.
In my line of work, I witness the best and worst of humanity. I see people in their most vulnerable moments, and I have learned that everyone carries their own burdens, their own stories. The little boy’s question reminded me that even those who commit heinous acts are still human beings, capable of change and redemption.
God’s love is not conditional; it does not waver based on our actions or choices. Instead, it is a constant force that invites us to seek forgiveness and transformation. This is a message I carry with me, not just as a firefighter but as a person navigating the complexities of life.
I hope that by sharing this perspective, I can inspire others to reflect on their own beliefs about love, forgiveness, and redemption. It is easy to judge from a distance, but when we look closer, we often find that everyone is fighting their own battles.
Let us remember that our capacity for love and understanding should extend to all, even those who have strayed far from the path. In doing so, we not only honor the divine but also foster a more compassionate world.
Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts. I look forward to our continued conversations and the insights we can gain from each other.
