Growing Smarter: Mitchell’s Workbook Review
Taking a day off from classes, I decided to bring Mitchell along to community college with me. It was a quiet day on campus, and I needed to stop by the business office to take care of some paperwork. As we walked through the halls, I could see Mitchell's eyes wide with curiosity, taking in the sights and sounds of the campus.
Once I finished my business, I felt the familiar urge to use the restroom. I quickly made my way to the men's bathroom, relieved that it wasn't crowded. However, once I got inside, I ended up blowing it up, metaphorically speaking, and I couldn't help but chuckle at the situation.
After I finished, I called out to Mitchell, "Hey buddy, you can come in now!" He squeezed into the stall with me, ready to adjust his shorts. I knew he wanted to make sure the bulge of his Pampers wasn't visible to the world outside.
"Just a quick fix, and then we can head back out," I said, helping him get comfortable. It was a lighthearted moment amidst the busyness of college life, and I appreciated the chance to share these experiences with him.
After we finished in the bathroom, I decided to treat Mitchell to some cafeteria food. We headed to the dining hall, where the smell of pizza and burgers filled the air. I loaded up a tray with slices of cheesy pizza and a couple of juicy burgers, knowing that he would love it.
As we sat down to eat, Mitchell dug in with enthusiasm, his little hands grabbing at the food. I watched him enjoy every bite, laughter and crumbs flying as he savored the delicious meal. It wasn't long before I noticed the telltale signs that he was loading up his Pampers again, but I didn't mind. It was all part of the fun.
Once he finished eating, I wrapped up my business in the office and we headed back home. I placed him in his playpen, where he could play with his toys and enjoy some quiet time. The day had been filled with laughter, good food, and a little chaos, but it was all worth it to see Mitchell so happy and content.
As Mitchell settled into his playpen, I brought out his preschool workbook for him to work on. He was eager to show me what he had been learning, and I was excited to see his progress.
While he scribbled and colored, I took a seat nearby to grade his work. After reviewing his answers, I noticed a few mistakes that stood out. When he finished, I gently called him over to discuss his workbook.
"Hey, buddy! Let's take a look at your work together," I said, flipping through the pages. "I see you tried really hard, but there are a few things we need to work on. You got a D this time."
Mitchell's face fell slightly, and I quickly reassured him, "It's okay! We can improve together. You missed some of the letters and numbers, but I know you can do better next time. Let's practice those together!"
He nodded, determined to learn, and I felt proud of his willingness to improve. It was a great opportunity for us to bond over his education, and I was excited to help him succeed.
