Graham's Bedtime Stories: Episode 01 - Little Red Tractor
Hi there! I’m Graham, a high school senior who loves telling stories. Tonight, I’m going to share a special bedtime tale with you - a story about hard work, determination, and a very special tractor.
Once upon a time, on a small farm nestled between rolling green hills, there lived a shiny red tractor named Tommy. Tommy was different from all the other farm machines. While the other tractors were content to sit in the barn, Tommy dreamed of something more.
One crisp autumn morning, Tommy noticed the wheat field was ready for harvest. The golden stalks swayed in the gentle breeze, promising a bountiful crop. Tommy knew exactly what he wanted to do.
“I’m going to harvest this wheat and make bread!” Tommy declared to his farm friends.
First, Tommy rolled up to the big blue combine harvester, Jake. “Hey Jake, will you help me harvest the wheat?”
Jake looked up from his morning nap. “Nah, sounds like too much work. You do it.”
Next, Tommy approached the red pickup truck, Max. “Max, would you help me transport the wheat to the mill?”
Max revved his engine lazily. “Not today. I’m busy doing absolutely nothing.”
Finally, Tommy asked the old grain silo, Charlie, “Charlie, will you help me store the wheat?”
Charlie creaked and groaned. “Harvesting is for young machines. I’m too old for that.”
Undeterred, Tommy worked all by himself. He carefully drove through the wheat field, his harvester attachment cutting through the golden stalks. He collected every single grain, carefully separating the wheat from the chaff.
Then, all alone, Tommy drove to the mill. The miller was surprised to see a tractor doing all the work, but he was impressed by Tommy’s determination.
“Most machines would have given up,” the miller said, grinding the wheat into fine flour.
Tommy didn’t stop there. He found a baker friend and helped mix the flour, knead the dough, and even helped bake the bread in the big wood-fired oven.
When the bread was finally done - golden, warm, and smelling absolutely delicious - Tommy’s farm friends gathered around.
“Can we have some bread?” Jake the combine asked.
“We’d love a slice!” Max the pickup truck chimed in.
But Tommy had a surprise for them.
“Remember when I asked for help?” Tommy said with a smile. “And you all said no? Well, I did all the work. So I get to decide what happens to this bread.”
And with that, Tommy shared the bread with the farmer’s children, who had watched his entire journey. The children were amazed by Tommy’s hard work and determination.
Jake, Max, and Charlie learned an important lesson that day. Hard work pays off, and sometimes, if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.
As the sun set over the farm, Tommy sat proudly, surrounded by the happy faces of the children, the warm smell of fresh bread filling the air.
The end.
Moral of the Story: Hard work, determination, and believing in yourself can help you achieve anything - even when others doubt you.
