My Fun Games with Mitchell
By Asher, Grade 3
Mitchell is my little friend from the daycare program. He is only 2 years old and I am 8. When I visit the daycare after school, I like to play with him. Mitchell is still learning to walk good and talk, but we can still have lots of fun together!
I want to play these games with Mitchell:
Building blocks is my favorite game to play with Mitchell. I can make tall towers and Mitchell likes to knock them down. He laughs so much when the blocks fall! Then we build them up again.
I also like to play peekaboo with Mitchell. I hide my face behind my hands and say "Where's Asher?" Then I open my hands and say "Here I am!" Mitchell smiles big and tries to copy me.
Rolling balls is another fun game. I roll a soft ball to Mitchell and he tries to roll it back. Sometimes he just throws it or sits on it, but that's okay because he's still little.
I want to teach Mitchell animal sounds too. I say "What does a cow say?" and make a "moo" sound. Mitchell tries to copy me but it sounds funny. We also do dog, cat, and duck sounds.
Reading books is quiet time with Mitchell. I can read simple words now, and Mitchell likes looking at the pictures. His favorite book has a red firetruck that makes noise when you push a button.
When it's nice outside, we play in the sandbox. I show Mitchell how to fill buckets with sand and make sandcastles. He likes to dig holes with his hands.
I'm a big kid now so I have to be careful and gentle with Mitchell because he's still learning. My teacher says I'm a good helper with the little kids. I like being Mitchell's big buddy and can't wait to play more games with him as he gets bigger!
