Hi everybody,
My name is Rashad, and I’m 10 years old. I help out as a teacher's aid at a daycare here in Compton, California. We also have another daycare in Watts. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to some amazing people who come around every weekend to help us out. They’re from a fancy church all the way in Beverly Hills, and even though we’re kind of far, they always show up with big smiles and big hearts. Not only that, but they’re super generous too. They bring food, hand out pancakes, and sometimes bring extra supplies we might need for the kids here. It’s so cool that they take the time to help us in so many ways.
One day, they told us about Shepherds Daycare and all the good work they’re doing. I just wanted to tell you how awesome that is. There’s this kid, Mitchell, who comes to our daycare. He’s special needs and getting ready to transition into preschool. It’s been hard for Mitchell sometimes, but there are so many people helping him with his mental health and cheering him on. It makes me happy to see how everyone supports him, and I’m really grateful for everything you’re doing.
I think Shepherds Daycare is such a great thing. It’s helping kids and Mitchell in ways that really change lives. I hope it keeps growing and helping special needs boys like Mitchell and so many others out there. Thank you for everything, and I really hope we get a chance to meet you one day.
P.S. Mitchell is the best friend in our head—we’re always cheering him on and following his story. Even though we’re not from the same town, some of his family lives around here, and we feel connected through them.
