(Reflection, Math, Fitness, Mindfulness) Mitchell’s Wild Theme Park Ride—From the Comfort of His Stroller
I had the chance to hang out with my buddy Mitchell for the day, which turned out to be a really awesome experience. The plan was to head to the carnival with a couple of my friends, and it was a particularly big deal for him. Preparing for our adventure involved packing his diaper bag with all the necessities. I made sure to gather all the essentials: a generous supply of Pampers, a variety of Gerber snacks for when hunger inevitably struck, and, naturally, a few fun junk foods, because you can't really do a carnival right without some treats. We also packed his bottles, which are a must-have even though they sometimes give him a bit of gas and can get him a little stopped up.
Once we arrived at the park, the real fun kicked off. Mitchell spends a good amount of his time in his stroller due to his special needs, so being at the carnival and having the opportunity to see and experience everything was a truly significant moment for him. We even chatted about him riding in his stroller and how it's not just a seat, but his personal vehicle that helps him get around and take in all the sights and sounds of the world. Throughout the day, he was in and out of it, hopping on the kiddie rides for a thrill and then relaxing in his stroller to observe everything around him. Seeing his face light up with pure joy on the rides and then watching him get back in his stroller, comfortable and ready for the next adventure, was simply the best part of the whole day. It was an incredible day spent with the little guy and my buddies, filled with exciting rides, plenty of laughs, and all the fun a carnival has to offer.

Sample Day
Imagine a sun-filled morning where Mitchell eagerly approaches the park gate, holding a brightly colored bucket for collecting treasures. The day begins with a mix of exploration and unstructured play; Mitchell is free to wander and collect small leaves, pebbles, and flowers while his caregivers encourage his curiosity by asking questions about what he finds.
Afterward, there’s an hour of more structured play at the jungle gym. He climbs, slides, and swings, his laughter echoing as he masters new skills. This is followed by a quieter picnic break, where Mitchell rests in the shade enjoying his favorite snack while learning about the colors and textures of the natural world around him.
Later in the day, there’s an impromptu game of tag with a group of toddlers he befriends at the sandbox. His natural social instincts shine as he learns to share toys and take turns. Before heading home, Mitchell enjoys a peaceful walk with his caregivers, observing birds and the rustling trees, winding down from a day full of adventure and learning.
This example captures the magic of intentionally crafted moments inspired by Mitchell’s carnival day and shows how such experiences can enrich his toddlerhood.

Mindfulness Exercise: Peer Feedback Session
Mindfulness isn’t just about tuning into your own thoughts—it can also be about creating a space for meaningful connections and self-improvement. This exercise is designed to help young athletes practice giving and receiving constructive feedback in a mindful and supportive way.
Step 1: Pair Up
Find a partner or form a small group. Ideally, choose someone you train with or who understands your athletic goals.
Step 2: Set the Intention
Take a deep breath together and commit to an open, positive mindset. Remind yourselves that the goal is to help each other grow, not to criticize.
Step 3: Feedback Exchange
The first person shares one area they’re proud of in their athletic routine or performance.
Their partner responds with one piece of positive feedback about that area, highlighting something they admire or appreciate.
Then, the partner offers one constructive suggestion for improvement, keeping the tone supportive and specific. Use phrases like “You could try…” or “Have you considered…”.
Step 4: Reflect and Switch
The roles reverse, and the second person follows the same structure.
Step 5: Closing the Session
End the exercise by thanking your partner for their honesty and support. Take another deep breath together to refocus before moving on with your day.
This practice not only enhances mindfulness but also improves communication and teamwork, building a stronger sense of camaraderie within your group.
