Start time: 8:00 PM
Group: Young adults / young men, approximately college-age and older
Hosts: Shepherds, congregants, teachers, and adult leaders
Location: Host home or approved church gathering space
Movie: Jesus Revolution (PG-13)
7:30–8:00 PM — Host Setup
Set out food, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Arrange comfortable seating with a clear view of the screen.
Test the TV/projector, speakers, Wi-Fi, and streaming service.
Put Bibles, notebooks, and pens where everyone can reach them.
Create a private group chat for announcements and the remote option.
Have an adult leader or host present throughout the gathering.
Communicate the movie rating and content beforehand.
Food ideas: Pizza, wings, sandwiches, chips, vegetables, cookies, and fruit.
Beverages: Water, sparkling water, soda, lemonade, coffee, or sports drinks.
8:00 PM — Welcome
Opening welcome — 5 minutes
“Welcome, everyone. Tonight is about fellowship, having fun, watching a good movie together, and then taking some time to connect what we saw to Scripture and to our own walk with Christ.”
Opening Prayer
Ask God for good fellowship, honest conversation, wisdom, encouragement, and opportunities to grow in faith.
8:05 PM — Food and Fellowship
15–20 minutes
Eat, introduce anyone new, and casually connect before the movie.
Icebreaker:
“What is one movie that has genuinely changed the way you think about something?”
8:25 PM — Movie Introduction
Tonight’s Movie:
Jesus Revolution
Before starting, ask everyone to watch for three things:
Identity: How do people discover who they are?
Community: What happens when people who are different learn to accept and serve one another?
Faith: What does it look like to actually follow Jesus rather than simply talk about faith?
Movie starts approximately at 8:25 PM.
During the Movie
Keep the atmosphere relaxed.
People may eat, drink, laugh, and enjoy the movie.
Encourage everyone to remember a scene or moment that raises a question or connects with their faith.
After the Movie — Bible Study
Target start: Approximately 10:30 PM, depending on movie length.
Step 1 — First Reactions
Go around the room:
“What was your biggest takeaway from the movie?”
Give everyone the opportunity to answer, but nobody should be pressured to share.
Step 2 — Scripture
Read Romans 12:2 together.
Discussion:
What does it mean to be transformed rather than simply conforming to the culture around us?
Where do young adults experience pressure to fit in?
What influences our thinking the most?
How can Scripture reshape the way we think and live?
Read 1 Timothy 4:12 together.
Discussion:
What does it mean to be an example as a young person?
Which areas are hardest: speech, conduct, love, faith, or purity?
What would leadership through example look like at work, school, church, or home?
How can young men encourage one another instead of competing with one another?
Read Mark 8:34 together.
Discussion:
What does Jesus mean by “deny yourself” and “take up your cross”?
How is following Jesus different from simply identifying as a Christian?
What sacrifices can discipleship require?
What is one area where you want to follow Jesus more seriously?
Step 3 — Honest Group Discussion
Brotherhood
What makes a Christian community genuinely supportive?
What keeps young men from being honest about struggles or doubts?
How can we hold each other accountable without becoming judgmental?
What does biblical friendship look like?
How can we become men who serve rather than simply expect to be served?
Step 4 — Personal Application
Give everyone 2–3 quiet minutes.
Ask each person to consider:
“What is one thing God may be asking me to change, begin, stop, or take more seriously?”
Then invite volunteers to share.
One-Week Challenge
Each person chooses one practical action:
Pray every morning.
Read one chapter of Scripture each day.
Encourage someone who is struggling.
Attend church consistently.
Reconcile with someone.
Serve someone without expecting recognition.
Invite a friend to the next gathering.
Talk with a pastor, mentor, or trusted Christian about an area of struggle.
11:00 PM — Closing
Closing Prayer
Pray for stronger faith, wisdom, friendships, purity and integrity, courage to live out the Gospel, families and relationships, work and school responsibilities, and opportunities to serve others.
Closing thought:
“Let’s not leave tonight with just something interesting we watched. Let’s leave with something we’re actually going to live.”
Remote / Streaming Viewing Party
For anyone who cannot attend the house:
Before 8:00 PM
Send the group:
Movie title and legitimate streaming information.
Meeting or chat information.
Start time.
Bible-study time.
Food instructions if applicable.
7:50 PM
Open the group video call or chat.
8:00 PM
Welcome remote participants and confirm everyone has the movie ready.
Movie
Everyone starts the movie at the same time.
Each participant should access the movie through their own legitimate streaming, rental, or purchase account. Do not rebroadcast a copyrighted movie over a video call unless the service and applicable terms permit it.
After the Movie
Keep the group call open and conduct the Bible study together.
Remote participants should be able to hear the discussion, participate in questions, pray with the group, and share their takeaways.
