Mitchell's New Naptime Protocol: Weekly Update

As Mitchell's primary counselor at Shepherd's Daycare, I wanted to share some adjustments we've made to his daily routine this week. These small changes are designed to improve his comfort and overall well-being during his time with us.

First, we've arranged for Mitchell to take his afternoon nap in one of our quiet, private nap rooms. This space allows for better temperature regulation and fewer distractions than our main nap area. During these rest periods, we're having Mitchell nap without his shorts to allow better air circulation around his diaper area. This practice helps prevent diaper rash and irritation, especially during these warmer days. Don't worry - he's still fully covered with a light blanket and the room is kept at an appropriate temperature.

Additionally, we've switched Mitchell from juice to milk in his naptime bottle. This change supports better dental health and provides important nutrients like calcium and vitamin D that support his growing body. The protein in milk also helps him feel satisfied longer, which has already improved his nap duration and quality. Dr. Williams, our consulting pediatrician, recommends milk over juice for naptime as it contains natural compounds that can promote better sleep.

Mitchell has responded well to these adjustments. His post-nap mood has noticeably improved, and Mr. Rodriguez, our assistant teacher, has observed that Mitchell seems more engaged during afternoon activities.

If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please feel free to discuss them with me or Director Thompson during pickup.
