WORSHIP IN BASS AND BREATH

IN HOLINESS, WE SWEAT.

These moments, unfiltered and alive, were caught through the lens in the fashion district by Mitchell Royel. They tell their own story, a gritty truth carved from the streets and stitched into existence. Right now, we're drowning out the noise with "I Mean It" by G-Eazy and Remo, followed by "New Religion" by Bebe Rexha and Faithless. This isn’t just faith—it’s a movement, a revolution of surrender and fire. Forget the polished edges; this is holy chaos. This is us.

We used to think holy meant quiet.

Hands folded. Knees pressed. Voices small enough to slip under a door. We were taught that God lived in the hush, in the stillness, in the space between the amen and the closing hymn. And we loved Him there. We still do.

But something in us started to move.

It started as a tremor. A restlessness in the hips. A pulse we couldn't pray away. We felt it rising the way a song rises — from the belly, from the bone, from the place inside us that never learned how to sit still for salvation.

So we followed it.

We walked into the dark and the smoke and the sound. And we didn't feel far from God. We felt closer.

Here is what nobody warned us about: the sacred can pulse. The sacred can sweat. The sacred can throw its head back and lose its breath and find it again in the next beat. We are women of faith who no longer fit inside four walls. The walls got smaller. Or maybe we got bigger. Maybe grace was always meant to stretch us until the building couldn't hold us anymore.

The lights above us are an altar. The floor beneath us is a church. And the beat — oh, the beat — is the closest thing to a heartbeat we've ever heard outside our mother's chest. We feel Him in it. We are not ashamed to say it. He is in the bass. He is in the sway. He is in the way our arms reach up like we still believe someone is reaching back.

We are not running from our faith. We are dancing deeper into it.

Because we know now. Worship was never about the volume. It was about the surrender. And there is no surrender quite like a body that finally stops apologizing for being alive.

We are the girls who kept the commandments and kept the ache. We are the ones who colored inside the lines until the lines started to feel like a cage. We love the God who made us — so we refuse to insult Him by pretending we are less than what He made.

He made us wild. He made us warm. He made us to feel joy so big it needs a room full of light and a hundred strangers moving in the same holy direction.

So this is where we are. Together. Barefoot in our conviction. Glitter on our faith. Sweat like anointing on our skin.

We found belonging in the beat. We found freedom in the fall. We found each other — a whole congregation of us — right here on the floor.

And we are not going back to small.

This is our new devotion. This is our loud amen. This is us, discovering that the divine was never afraid of the dark — it just wanted to dance in it with us.

So let the music rise. Let the lights come down like a blessing. Let our bodies say what our mouths were too afraid to.

We are here.
We are His.
And we are finally, fully awake.

Epilogue: And so, we leave this place not as we came. We have been tuned to something eternal, something ancient that still pulses in the now. We do not walk away; we carry. Carry the bass as a heartbeat, the sweat as a sign, the bruises on our knees, now mingled with the ache in our calves, as the evidence of our devotion. This is what it means to be alive for Him. To move. To trust that He is not left behind in the stillness but soars in the motion, in the rhythm.

We, the wild ones, have become a symphony of living praise, rewriting what holy can mean. All of us together — bold, unafraid, undivided. Hands lifted, feet pounding, voices raised not out of duty but out of delight. Out of love so deep it refuses to sit quietly in the corner. This is not goodbye; this is a forward march. A new hymn with no end, echoing long after the music fades.

The sacred is with us, not in flickering walls or in whispers only. It is in the roar, in the exhale, in this path we now take together. We are His church, and as we step into the world again, we do so in full surrender — not as perfect saints, but as unashamed children of grace, still dancing. Forever awake. Forever free. Forever His. Amen.
