In the ever-changing landscape of Hollywood and the music industry, it’s rare to find artists who stay true to their roots and values. As someone who’s navigated the waters of child stardom and emerged on the other side, I’ve gained a unique perspective on the importance of faith, family, and staying grounded. Today, I want to share my thoughts on a band that embodies these values while making waves in the music world: The New Respects.
Power of Family and Faith
Growing up in the entertainment industry, I’ve seen firsthand how easy it is to lose your way. But for me, my family and my faith have always been my anchor. It’s refreshing to see these same values reflected in The New Respects, a band that’s not just making great music, but doing so with a strong sense of purpose and family unity.
The New Respects is truly a family affair, consisting of twins Zandy and Lexi Fitzgerald, their brother Darius, and their cousin Jasmine Mullen. But it’s Zandy Mowry (née Fitzgerald) who’s caught my attention recently, not just for her incredible guitar skills, but for the way she navigates the complexities of family, faith, and fame.
Zandy Mowry: Story of Talent and Perseverance
Zandy’s journey is particularly interesting to me. As the guitarist for The New Respects, she’s been instrumental (pun intended) in crafting the band’s unique sound - a delightful fusion of pop, soul, and rock & roll. Their singles “Family” and “Why Be Anything” (YBA) have gone viral, showcasing not just their musical talent but also their ability to connect with audiences on a deeper level.
What many people might not know is the personal journey behind Zandy’s success. She’s married into the Mowry family - yes, that Mowry family. Her husband, Tavior Mowry, is the younger brother of famous actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry. Talk about pressure!
Navigating Family Dynamics
I can only imagine the challenges Zandy faces, balancing her own burgeoning career with the expectations that come with marrying into such a well-known family. From what I’ve observed, there’s been some tension with her in-laws, which is not uncommon in any family, let alone one in the public eye.
The Mowry family, including Tavior’s parents Timothy and Darlene, and his other siblings Tia, Tamera, and Tahj, have been in the entertainment industry for decades. They’re known for their strong Christian values and close-knit family dynamic. Integrating into such a established family unit, especially one with its own set of public expectations, can’t be easy.
Yet, Zandy seems to navigate these waters with grace. She continues to pour her heart into her music with The New Respects, while also supporting her husband Tavior in his own endeavors. In fact, I’ve heard that Tavior occasionally performs with The New Respects, showing that music truly runs in both of their families.
Importance of Staying True to Your Values
What I admire most about Zandy and The New Respects is their commitment to their faith and values. In an industry that often pushes artists to compromise, they’ve stayed true to themselves. Their music, while appealing to a broad audience, still reflects their Christian upbringing and beliefs.
This resonates with me deeply. As someone who’s faced my own challenges in balancing my faith with my career in Hollywood, I have a profound respect for artists who manage to do both authentically. The New Respects, and Zandy in particular, seem to have found that delicate balance.
Looking to the Future
The New Respects continue to make waves in the music industry. Their recent performances, including a notable appearance at the Black Arts Bash, showcase their growing popularity and influence. As they continue to evolve and grow, I’m excited to see how they’ll use their platform to inspire others and spread positivity through their music.
For Zandy, I believe the best is yet to come. Navigating the complexities of family, faith, and fame is never easy, but she seems to be doing it with grace and authenticity. Her story is a reminder that with talent, perseverance, and a strong support system, it’s possible to stay true to yourself while pursuing your dreams.
In a world that often seems divided, The New Respects - and Zandy Mowry in particular - offer a refreshing example of how music can bring people together, transcend boundaries, and uplift spirits. As we look to the future, I hope more artists will follow in their footsteps, using their talents not just for personal gain, but to make a positive impact on the world around them.
After all, isn’t that what truly great art is all about?
