Why I Choose Fruits Instead of Vegetables

Dear Readers,

My name is Thomas and I am six years old. I want to tell you about why I eat fruits instead of vegetables for dinner and lunch. One day I asked my dad if I could eat fruits instead of vegetables and he said yes!

Fruits taste sweet and delicious. They have lots of important vitamins that help me grow big and strong. My dad says fruits have special powers that make my brain super smart. I like apples, bananas, strawberries, and watermelon the most.

My friend Mitchell doesn't eat vegetables either. He buys fruit and vegetable juices at the store. Mitchell drinks these juices all by himself. Nobody makes him do it. He says the fruits in the juice make it taste good even with vegetables inside. Mitchell is really good at reading, so I think his store juices must make his brain work extra well too.

When I eat lots of fruits, I have more energy to play handball. Colorful fruits help our brains think faster and remember more things. I get better grades on my spelling tests when I eat my fruit cup at lunch!

Dad says I need to eat healthy foods for half my plate. So now instead of broccoli, I eat strawberries. Instead of peas, I eat grapes. Instead of carrots, I eat orange slices. They all have the same colors but taste much better!

Sometimes Dad still tries to make me eat vegetables. He says "just try one bite" but I know his tricks! I just eat extra fruits and he doesn't make me eat the broccoli anymore.

If you don't like vegetables too, ask your dad if you can eat fruits instead. It worked for me!

Sincerely,

Thomas Williams
