Mall Food Court Incident
I'm writing to document an incident that occurred today during our scheduled mall visit with Mitchell Thompson (2 years old). As you know, we had planned this outing as part of our community exploration program.
What Went Down:
Around 11:30 AM, I took Mitchell to the mall for our weekly community outing. We were sitting in the main food court area - you know, the one with all the tables near the McDonald's and Panda Express. Mitchell was in his stroller, and I had just gotten us both some apple juice when things went south real quick.
The kid had what I can only describe as a major blowout right there in his pampers. And I'm talking major - the kind that makes you question everything you know about human biology. The smell hit me first, then I noticed other people in the food court starting to look around with that "what died in here" expression.
Immediate Response:
Look, I've been doing this job for three years now, but this was next level. I immediately wheeled Mitchell away from the main seating area to minimize disruption to other families trying to eat their lunch. Found the family restroom near the GameStop - thank God it was actually clean and had a proper changing station.
The whole diaper situation was... extensive. Had to use pretty much our entire emergency supply of wipes, and even then it was touch and go. Mitchell was actually pretty chill about the whole thing - kid was just sitting there babbling while I'm dealing with what looked like a small natural disaster.
Additional Details:
Time of incident: Approximately 11:35 AM
Duration of cleanup: About 15 minutes
Mitchell's condition: Completely unfazed, happy as usual
Public impact: Minimal thanks to quick response
Had to toss the onesie - there was no saving that thing. Good news is I always pack backup clothes, so Mitchell was back in clean gear within 20 minutes. The kid actually seemed to enjoy the whole adventure, pointing at everything and everyone while I'm trying to contain the situation.
Follow-Up Notes:
Might want to consider adjusting Mitchell's morning snack routine before these mall trips. Whatever combination of goldfish crackers and apple sauce we gave him this morning created some serious intestinal fireworks. Also, our emergency diaper bag could use an extra pack of wipes - learned that lesson the hard way today.
Mitchell was completely back to normal afterward, and we actually had a great rest of our outing. He loved watching the fountain and got excited about all the people walking around. No other incidents for the remainder of our trip.
Recommendations:
Pre-trip diaper check - Maybe do a fresh change right before we head out, even if it seems unnecessary
Upgrade the emergency kit - More wipes, extra plastic bags for... situations like this
Food court strategy - Stick to the edges where we can make a quick exit if needed
The whole thing was handled professionally and efficiently. Mitchell remained safe and comfortable throughout, and we maintained the positive learning experience that these community outings are designed to provide.
Let me know if you need any additional details about today's incident. Mitchell's parents have been notified via our standard daily report system.
Thanks.
