WCB: Boycott of Keke Palmer's One of Them Days

written by a member of the WCB

We feel compelled to address our decision to boycott Keke Palmer's upcoming movie, One of Them Days. This decision stems from our concerns regarding the film's themes and the broader implications it may have on societal values.

One of Them Days, which features Keke Palmer and SZA, is set to premiere on January 24, 2025. While the film is marketed as a comedy about friendship and the challenges of adulthood, we believe it promotes narratives that conflict with the values we uphold. The portrayal of relationships and lifestyle choices in the film raises questions about the messages being sent to young audiences.

Additionally, the timing of the film's release coincides with significant events, such as the ongoing wildfires in California, which have led to the cancellation of its Hollywood premiere. This situation highlights a disconnect between the film's “lighthearted” premise and the serious issues many are currently facing.

As a community, we stand firm in our beliefs and encourage others to consider the impact of media on cultural norms. We hope that by voicing our concerns and boycotting One of Them Days, we can foster a dialogue about the importance of responsible storytelling in entertainment.
