Being a conservative Christian in today's overwhelmingly liberal spaces can feel eerily reminiscent of the Middle Passage—a journey marked by suffering, isolation, and the struggle to maintain one’s identity amidst overwhelming opposition. While it may seem provocative to draw such a parallel, this comparison reveals essential truths about navigating complex ideological landscapes fraught with hostility toward differing beliefs.
The Middle Passage was a harrowing experience for countless individuals, forced from their homes, stripped of their rights, and subjected to dehumanizing conditions. In a metaphorical sense, conservatives today often encounter a similar atmosphere of oppression, where their viewpoints are dismissed, ridiculed, or silenced entirely. In this polarized climate, voices that challenge the prevailing narrative are frequently met with disdain, leaving many to feel adrift and isolated.
Yet, this experience can also serve as a powerful catalyst for courage and resilience.
